Batter’s Box is closed. This message was left on the Facebook page in June 2014.

Customers and Friends;

The Batter’s Box has existed in Truro since 1987! It has grown, evolved and changed to suit the ever changing needs of its customers over the past 25 years. Since taking over the store in 2001 I have seen many kids grow and become the fine young adults that they are today and I have enjoyed seeing this take place before my eyes. Throughout my time here I have had to make many tough decisions, some of them good some not so good. This decision has been the hardest of them all!

The Batter’s Box will be closing its doors at the end of June 2014.
I wish to thank all of my loyal customers who have supported me over the last 13 years here, all the little ones who would drag their parents through my door to buy the latest and greatest and all my friends who I have met and have formed a lasting relationship with. I also want to thank the Truro Centre staff and management! It has been great to be a tenant in a location where the management and staff truly care about your success.

As is customary in these situations I will be discounting all merchandise (There is a few exceptions) beginning June 16, 2014 to 60% off. Please come in and purchase the items you wish, say hello, goodbye and good luck.

Best regards,
Ralph Finck

  2. Hearing this makes me quite sad. I visited the store a few times over the years as part of my Harry Kremer award functions, where I would cross Canada to visit/inspect comic shops. Last summer I was there and Ralph told me that December 2013 was to be 25 years in business for Batter’s Box. The business had changed, adapted. Comics shrunk as an overall percentage of the business and by last summer it was subs only, but they made it 25 long years. In 2011, when I was doing some research on small town comic shops in Canada, Truro was the 11th smallest town in Canada to have a comic & game store and it had two! My best wishes to Ralph.
