Visions of an Icon: Wolverine(s) by Noel Tuazon

Toronto artist Noel Tuazon submitted 9 (!) pieces for the Wolverine gallery.

Noel Tuazon was born in the Philippines but has lived in Toronto, Ontario for over 30 years. His first break in comics came when his one page comic was included in Dave Sim’s “Single Page” section of Cerebus reprints back in 1989. Currently he is a storyboard clean-up artist at Nelvana Studios (Toronto) with credits on Bob & Margaret, Grossology, My Friend Rabbit, Pearly, and currently, Scaredy Squirrel. He’s also provided illustrations for Cricket Magazine, the SCBWI Bulletin Magazine, Caryn A. Tate’s children’s book, Sunny Bear, and three books of poems by Carolynn Unknown(Once, We Were, Our Own Shadow). Comic book work includes Elk’s Run with writer Joshua Hale Fialkov(Villard), Rafael Nieves’ Arianne (Moonstone), and the upcoming Tumor (from Archaia Studios/also written by Fialkov).

The pieces shown above are 9 of over 40 pieces of original artwork featuring Wolverine donated to the Joe Shuster Awards for the Visions of an Icon Art Show and Sale by Canadian artists. The pieces were exhibited twice in 2009 – at the Joe Shuster Awards Ceremony in September and at the Speakeasy Comic Art Show in November. The original art pieces will be auctioned off on eBay in March 2010. Watch for announcements on this site!

Every day we will try to post an original piece and some information on the artist(s) that donated the work.
