MICHAEL CHERKAS is one of Canada’s leading comic artists and illustrators. He created the award-winning comic book series ‘The Silent Invasion’ together with writer Larry Hancock in 1985. The comic is a tale of paranoia and alien invasion in the 1950’s, and was reprinted as a graphic novel by NBM in New York in 1988. Cherkas continued to work with Hancock on ‘Suburban Nightmares’. With writer John Sabljic, he created ‘The New Frontier’, a thriller of 1960’s conspiracies. Mike lives in Toronto with his wife, Elizabeth, and two children, Matthew and John. When not drawing comics he works as an illustrator and senior designer for a local visual communications company and likes to tend to his tomato garden. He is currently working on some new comic material with his longtime collaborator, Hancock, and is drawing and co-creating a graphic novel called Third Horseman based in Ukraine during Stalin’s imposed famine and attempted genocide of that nation.
