Visions of an Icon: Wolverine by Tom Grummett

TOM GRUMMETT, artist, has been a mainstay of the industry since the late 80s, and is best known for his work on such DC Comics titles as Superman (participating in the Death of Superman storyline of the early 1990’s), was the co-creator of the modern Superboy and worked on many other titles such as Robin, the Titans, the Teen Titans (with writer Geoff Johns), and the Power Company (with writer Kurt Busiek). He was also a co-founder of Gorilla Comics. At Marvel Comics Grummett’s action-packed pencils have been seen on titles such as Avengers/Thunderbolts, Generation X, Silver Surfer, X-Men Unlimited, assorted Spider-Man books, the New Thunderbolts, Baron Zemo and the Black Knight. More recently Tom has been working on the title X-Men Forever with writer Chris Claremont.

The piece shown above is one of over 50 original art pieces featuring Wolverine donated to the Joe Shuster Awards for the Visions of an Icon Art Show and Sale by Canadian artists. The pieces were exhibited twice in 2009 – at the Joe Shuster Awards Ceremony in September and at the Speakeasy Comic Art Show in November. The original art pieces will be auctioned off on eBay in April and May 2010 and are currently underway.
