CBC has announced that the Canada Reads list has been whittled down further, from 10 to 5 and Jeff Lemire’s Essex County is still in the running.
The top choice will be announced in February 2011.
Quin said she knows the graphic novel genre well and believes Essex County can be considered literature because of its “incredible characters and wonderful stories.”
“The illustrations are so beautiful and so profound and tell a story all on their own,” she said, speaking via video link at a press conference Wednesday.
The book: Jeff Lemire’s Essex County is composed of three interconnected graphic novels — Tales from the Farm, Ghost Stories and The Country Nurse.
