As 2021 comes to a close you are probably wondering (hopefully) where are the Joe Shuster Award Nominations and Winners for 2020 published works are, and you’d be correct in wondering and the answer is: they are coming later this month.

2020 and 2021 have been interesting years for everyone and my August through November got very wacky with the return of conventions (my main gig is now booking and organizing creator guests for all of the Fan Expo events across North America and that portfolio was dramatically increased with new shows in Denver and San Francisco added, followed by the acquisition of the Wizard World show portfolio. I ended up working on 8 events in 3 months, only one of which was cancelled. Next year I’m booking creators for 17+ events across North America.

Anyway, here we are. We did promote on social media that the Gene Day submissions would be accepted until June 30, 2021, but some grumbling online has led us to allow a one week option to send a PDF copy to kevin@joeshusterawards.com by Monday, December 20th or get a physical copy to Gene Day Awards c/o Kevin Boyd, 305-484 Oriole Parkway, Toronto, ON M5P 2H8 by the same date.

We’re about 50% done finalizing categories and will be working towards being 100% complete by December 22nd.
