It’s been a few years since we’ve had much activity here, and I’m sad to say that the Awards have fallen behind as we re-emerged from the darker days of the pandemic. I am regularly asked what is going on with the Joe Shuster Awards, so this will serve as an update to answer that question.

I shifted to full time convention work in 2021 and that’s kind of taken over my free time as I work on 16 shows a year for Fan Expo HQ. Similarly, our committee members have been wrapped up in doing their own work and living their lives. It is my fondest hope that we can get the awards back on track for a return either this year or next, and when we do some special awards will be handed out to cover the years that we were on hiatus.

Last Friday, March 22nd, we lost of one of the awards’ founders, Dave Darrigo passed after a few years of health issues, and as I updated his bio this morning I also had a chance to update the bios for some people who we have lost since 2021 including other Hall of Fame inductees Gerry Lazare (2021), Pierre Fournier (2022) and TM Maple recipient and my good friend Kenneth Ketter (2022).
