HISTORY OF COMICS PRESENTATION
Thursday, November 11, 2010 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM
They’ve been vilified as a waste of paper and condemned as corrupting the young. Educators and parents have been cursing their existence for generations. Yet the comics/graphic novels medium is alive, thriving, and has become such a mainstay in popular culture that it’s seriously studied at colleges and universities. So what was all the fuss about? How have comics been viewed by society, what is their role, and how much do comics reflect their times? On Thursday, November 11th, 2010 @ 7pm come see this lively presentation by 2008 Joe Shuster Award Winner Walter Durajlija, proprietor of Big B Comics, and Chris Owen, Sequential Art History Instructor at Mohawk College.
